The Durham Rescue Mission named Sokal Media Group their current advertising and marketing agency of record. As a faith-based, non-profit organization, The Durham Rescue Mission aids and ministers to the homeless and addicted in central North Carolina. They are Durham’s oldest and largest shelter, providing housing for over 200 men, women and children each day. Their male campus stretches 3 blocks while their campus for women and children is 2 acres.
Founded in 1974, the 36-year-old ministry is now an indispensable part of the city's social service landscape and has become so much more than a shelter. Services provided on site include hot, nutritious meals, free eye exams and glasses, dental care, and free medical assistance. Residents are also able to get one-on-one counseling, GED classes with individual tutors, and employment opportunities through Temps to the Rescue employment agency.
A generous donation from GlaxoSmithKline has enabled the Mission to setup a Scholarship Endowment Fund to provide tuition assistance for residents who graduate from the Mission’s One Year Recovery Program in order to attend local institutions of higher learning.
Their mission is “to meet through the power of Jesus Christ the needs of the whole person: spiritual, educational, emotional, physical, social, and vocational, so that those who are hurting may become fully functioning members of society.” However, their mission is nearly impossible without the aid of the community. The Durham Rescue Mission, operating entirely without the help of any government funding, relies solely on gifts from individuals, churches, businesses, civic groups, organizations, grants, bequests, and foundations. Sokal Media Group intends to help The Durham Rescue Mission increase their annual donations by spreading the word about the ministry’s good-doings.
For the past eight years, Sokal Media Group has created results-oriented marketing for a variety of consumer and business-to-business clientele.
